Pamela Skjolsvik story “In the Pink” is being produced by the DFW Film Lab.
Richard Young was accepted to participate in a Federal program to deliver more efficient healthcare. He was the only physician in Texas asked to participate. Jim Landy interviewed him for an article in the Dallas Morning News.
Rosemary Clement-Moore will be the guest speaker at the Yellow Rose RWA on Saturday January 14th from 10am to 12:00. The meeting is held at the City of Grapevine – Merlot Room, 4500 Merlot Avenue, Grapevine, TX. She will be teaching ‘Method Writing’ which uses actor’s tools to enrich your writing. Jason Myers announced three New York Times bestselling authors will teach classes at the upcoming Writers Conference. Only 19 Wednesdays left… DFWCon.org. Tom Gensler is looking for wranglers to assist the agents during their stay. We have twelve agents so far.
Announcements 11/30
Donna Lasko reminded everyone of the vote next week. Nominations for the 2012 Board of Directors are due. The vote is next Wednesday along with the proposed amendments.
Please plan to attend next week so your voice can be heard.
December 14th is the holiday party. Bring your favorite potluck dish and ugly sweater.
The board began checking the read list against the member roster. Only paying members are allowed to read. If you have forgotten to renew please see a board member.
Announcements April 20
This Wednesdays announcements are as follows:We have started applying for grants. If you would like to volunteer for this process, please contact Donna.
Director Kirk Von Der Heydt would like to start a teen writers' workshop. We need volunteers to help determine what that would entail and what would be the best way of accomplishing it. If you are interested in helping out, speak with Kirk before the regular meeting or during the break. We appreciate your assistance.
We will vote on room names the first meeting of May. Please make sure someone has your room name suggestion, or it will not be listed on the ballot. Write it down and give it to a board member to be included.
Election Results, a Book Release & Social Networking Start the New Year
It was a change of the guard at the January 5 meeting of the Workshop (well, almost, two members of the former Board ran for re-election) as a new Board of Directors was seated. They are:

Former President Stephen Manning presented outgoing President Russell Connor with a plaque to commemorate his two years of service. Russell gave gift cards to the 2010 Board in recognition of their service; and to Harry Hall for opening the building each week, Eric Dixon for consistently volunteering to monitor a read-and-critique session, and to Chris Moore for serving on the 2009 Board.
In other news, Kate Cornell advised that she now handles the social networking for DFWWW. People can stay current about Workshop events on Twitter, or our Facebook fan page. Rosemary Clement Moore announced the release of her Young Adult novel The Splendor Falls on January 11 in paperback. Larry Enmon cautioned that only five spots remain for agent assistant volunteers. Interested members should see him to sign up now. Jeff Posey warned that the 2011 DFW Writers' Conference is fast approaching and people should register today before it's too late. Finally, please keep member Michelle O'neal in your thoughts as she fights a life threatening medical condition.
