Agent Representation, a Book Signing & the 2011 DFW Writers' Conference Fill the News
The temperature continues to rise, but that didn't stop the dedicated members of the DFW Writers' Workshop from attending the August 4th business meeting.
In the news, A. Lee Martinez donated a copy of the anthology Death's Excellent Vacation in which he has a short story. He also has a book signing this Saturday, August 7th, at 3 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble in Denton. Jason Myers received a partial request for his novel Mayhem Inc. from agent Anthony Mattero. Kristen Lamb announced she signed with Gina Panettieri of the Talcott Notch Literary Services. Also, Kristen donated a copy of her recent release, We Are Not Alone: The Writer's Guide to Social Media, to the Workshop's Trophy Room. Carolyn Williams displayed a new reference book for the library.
Finally, thirteen agents and editors have agreed to attend the 2011 DFW Writers' Conference with more being added soon. The event is sure to be spectacular with a full lineup of classes and speakers.

DFWWW Goes International with Foreign Book Rights & a Conference Attendee from Across the Pond

Rosemary Clement-Moore sold the Portuguese rights to her Maggie Quinn: Girl vs. Evil series of Young Adult novels. Additionally, Rosemary will speak this Saturday, June 19, during a meeting of the North Texas chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators in Arlington.

Ginnie Bouvier received an invitation from agent Eleanor Jackson of the Markson Thoma Literary Agency to visit their offices in New York City for "a brainstorming session". Kenneth Ingle will speak at the Hurst Library Association on Saturday, May 1 at 11:00 a.m. Also this Saturday, A. Lee Martinez has a book signing for his newest release Devine Misfortune at Lone Star Comics in Dallas from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Finally, the executive committee for the 2011 DFW Writers' Conference was announced. Among his many other hats, chairperson Jeff Posey will handle marketing. Co-chair Jason Myers will invite the agents and editors. Michelle O'Neal will invite the speakers. Jeri Burbage will serve as treasurer, and Stephen Manning will coordinate registration.
As always, a dedicated family of DFWWW volunteers will be needed for a multitude of other tasks to be announced later.

Registration opens for 2011 DFW Writers' Conference! Save your spot now!
The 2010 DFW Writers Conference has sold out two months in advance of the event. In response to this overwhelming demand, the DFW Writers' Workshop has decided to open registration early for the next installment, which takes place Feb. 26 & 27, 2011 at the American Airlines Training and Convention Center in Fort Worth.
We're moving up to a bigger venue so we can accommodate higher attendance. The AATCC is a fantastic facility, complete with a tavern, fitness center, lounge and hotel rooms all right there in the center. For more details, check out its web site.
