Dallas/Fort Worth has a strong literary community. DFW Writers Workshop is working to bring it together in one place.

Read and Critique. Book Signings. Conferences. Readings. Screenings. Write-Ins. Launches.

It's all here, and it's all for you.

The Workshop continues to meet every Wednesday at 7 p.m., though we currently do it online. Visitors are always welcome. RSVP with the form below for more information and to receive instructions to log in.

Note that there are different forms for members to sign up and for visitors to RSVP.

Synopsis – A Writer’s Best Friend, aka the Dreaded Synopsis with Sandy Steen

    April 13, 2021
    7 PM TO 8:30 PM

When you say “synopsis,” a collective groan comes up from the writing community. And we hear, “Do I have to?”, “Writing a synopsis, I feel like I’ve already written the book.” All valid. All fixable. A necessity in today’s market, a synopsis can be a daunting task, but it can also be one of a writer’s best tools.

Mystery and contemporary romance author Sandy Steen is here to help you learn how to break down writing a synopsis into an easy format useful for plotting and keeping your story on track. In the end, you’ll be saying, “Not as bad as I thought,” and “I got this.”

Sign-up to join us by 11:59 PM on April 11. Register here!

A "join the meeting" Zoom link will be provided to the email address entered on the registration form before the meeting. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach us at [email protected]

    PART 2

Bring the knowledge that you gain and join Sandy Steen, the Dallas Mystery Writers, and DAWG for a SYNOPSIS CRITIQUE SESSION in May. To participate in the May synopsis critique session, register by emailing the Dallas Mystery Writers at [email protected] by April 26.
